Looking for a job that can take you to remote villages in distant lands – or give you a chance to help people in your own community?
You’re not alone. According to a recent article in the Washington Post, colleges are expanding course offerings in public health, global health and epidemiology in response to growing demand from students.
Why?
Public health is rapidly growing field. Governments and non-profit organizations spend billions every year bringing health care services to underserved communities.
Public health workers across the U.S. and around the globe provide health education, maternal and child health and primary health care services.
Behind the scenes, health services administrators and program managers run health care facilities and outreach programs, while biostatisticians help evaluate the effectiveness of public health programs.
It takes a special person to work in public health. Perhaps that person is you.
What is the job outlook for maternal and child health and healthcare education more generally? I would like to get an MA in public health with an emphasis on maternal and child health and I want to make sure there will be jobs when I finish. What types of jobs would I expect to find?
EHC says…
The job outlook for most careers in healthcare is good and this includes maternal and child health and healthcare education. For more information and the latest statistics on job outlook, go to BLS.gov. You can search for job projections by specific occupation. For example Health Education is projected to grow 18.2 percent between 2008 and 2018.
