Will the Recent Changes in Financial Aid Impact Me?

There have been a number of recent changes in financial aid, especially with regard to student loans, including changes announced on October 25th by President Obama.

Some of the changes are designed primarily to help borrowers who already have student loan debt, are out of school, and are having difficulty paying them back.  Other changes are designed to help currently enrolled borrowers better manage their loans by offering relatively small savings through consolidation, but only for a limited period of time.

Still other changes, such as those referenced in our article How to Finance Your Health Sciences Education, will actually add to the cost of your student loans by removing the interest subsidy.

Regardless of the changes, remember than none of them change the fact that you are ultimately in control of how you pay for your health sciences education and in control of the choices you make about responsible budgeting and borrowing.

You can get additional information on these changes at www.studentaid.ed.gov.
