The Minority Biomedical Research Support is a program initiative funded by the National Institute of General Medical Sciences (NIGMS), and is provided to minority/minority-serving educational institutions to increase the overall number of faculty, students, and investigators who are members of groups that are underrepresented in the biomedical sciences. A component of NIGMS is the Research Initiative for Science Enhancement.
The mission of the RISE program is to increase the number of minority/underrepresented individuals in biomedical research careers by preparing students for successful transition into biomedical-related graduate programs, ultimately leading to PhDs.
