Our mission is to diversify the physician workforce and provide leadeship in diversity and cultural competence to the MCG School of Medicine faculty,staff, students, residence &, community. The Summer Prematriculation Program for entering Medical, Dental, and Graduate Studies students is an educational program designed to facilitate the academic, social, and environmental adjustment of incoming MCG students. The program is six weeks in length The following benefits are provided to assist the transition of program participants into their respective health professions schools:
♦ An introduction to important aspects of the first-year curriculum;
♦ Specialized seminars on strategies to facilitate success in and graduation from a health professions curriculum;
♦ Exposure to clinical and research settings;
♦ Interaction with administrators, faculty, upper-class students, and peers;
♦ Familiarization with the MCG campus and City of Augusta, GA
All participants must be U.S. citizens or hold permanent resident status. Students underrepresented in the health sciences as well as disadvantaged or non-traditional students, who have been offered admission to the schools of medicine, dentistry, and graduate studies are invited to attend.
