The Summer Research Program provides U.S. undergraduate students and The University of Texas Houston Medical School (UT-Houston) first-year medical school students with hands-on laboratory research experience supervised by faculty members from the medical and dental schools of UT-Houston. The internships are ten weeks in duration and are directed and administered by UT-Houston faculty and staff. Each student is required to write an abstract of research performed during the summer. Scheduled events that supplement the research experience include weekly seminars; certification courses in animal science: laboratory safety and raditaion; an enrichment series; and tours of selectied facilities and labs. You must be available to begin on the first day of the program, May 26, 2015.
The UT-Houston Summer Research Program for Undergraduates matches college sophomores, juniors, and non-graduating seniors with faculty scientists to conduct biomedical research in labs throughout the UT Health Science Center at Houston (UT-Houston). Eligibility: At the time of application, undergraduate students enrolled in any accredited US college or university during the current academic year may participate, but must NOT have graduated at the time the program begins. With AP credit, freshman can apply to the program. To qualify for this program: An undergraduate student must be a United States citizen or an international student enrolled at an accredited undergraduate institution in the U.S. All undergraduate students must be 18 years of age by the start of the SRP program. All undergraduate and MS-1 medical students are to perform at least 40 hours per week in a research lab. Must have 12 hours in a science discipline. Complete on-line application (NO paper applications will be accepted). You cannot save an incomplete application form and continue later.
