High School Summer Research Program Description
Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI) offers summer research experiences to students at different levels of their academic development. The high school program provides students the opportunity to conduct research and experience the lifestyle of a researcher at a National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated comprehensive cancer center.

Each student spends seven weeks working full-time on an independent research project under the supervision of a of RPCI scientific staff member and alongside graduate students and post-doctoral trainees. The program concludes with a scientific conference at which students present a scientific poster on their research project. The experience gained by this program proves invaluable for enabling them to make decisions about undergraduate majors and specializations in the life sciences.

College Summer Research Program Description
Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI), with funding from the National Cancer Institute (NCI), offers summer programs designed to provide college juniors an immersive research experience in the biomedical life sciences at an NCI-designated comprehensive cancer center.

The program spans 10 weeks during the summer between a participant's junior and senior year of college. During this time, participants work independently on an assigned research project under the supervision of an RPCI faculty researcher and alongside graduate students and post-doctoral trainees. To complement their research experience, participants attend scientific seminars and laboratory data meetings where they are informed of the latest trends and findings in cancer research. Participants conclude their summer by presenting on their research results (oral and poster) at a concluding scientific conference.

Summer Programs at RPCI for Health Profession Students
Summer fellowship opportunities are available to medical and health professional students at Roswell Park Cancer Institute. These summer experiences allow students to expand their horizons in the care and treatment of the cancer patient and participate in state-of-the-art clinical research.

APPLICATIONS FOR THE UPCOMING SUMMER PROGRAM ARE ACCEPTED FROM HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WHO ARE CURRENTLY IN THEIR JUNIOR YEAR OF HIGH SCHOOL. DURING A TYPICAL YEAR, FACULTY MEMBERS AT ROSWELL PARK SELECT 25 STUDENTS FROM A POOL OF APPLICANTS.

College Summer Research Program Description :: PROGRAM ELIGIBILITY AND FUNDING

 Applications for the upcoming Summer Program are accepted from students who are currently enrolled in their junior year of college and have demonstrated an interest in a scientific career. College juniors from non-research universities who have had limited opportunities to participate in research, under-represented minority students and students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds are especially encouraged to apply.

During a typical year, faculty members at Roswell Park select 25-30 students from a pool of applicants.
