Summer Scholars Undergraduates

Mountain View, FED.
Type Basic Science Research

This opportunity is offered through the SENS Research Foundation (SRF), which offers students the opportunity to conduct biomedical research to combat diseases of aging, such as cancer, Alzheimer’s, and macular degeneration.

Under the guidance of one or more scientific mentors, each Summer Scholar will be responsible for his or her own research project in such areas as tissue engineering, genetic engineering, and science policy.

The Summer Scholars Program emphasizes development on not only laboratory skills but also communication skills as well. Students participating in the program will hone their writing skills via periodic reports, which are designed to emulate text scientists commonly must produce.

Additionally, a poster presentation at a SRF-sponsored conference at the end of the summer will provide students with an opportunity to present their results to scientists from other research institutitions.

Paid research opportunities are available at several university-based research centers.
