This program is intended to provide clinical and basic science research opportunities for undergraduate students in the laboratories of Pediatric faculty in the College of Medicine. The ulitmate goal of this program is to provide students with an excellent research foundation for making career choices in the biomedical sciences. Selected students are placed with research faculty with expressed interest in training undergrads. The students work with their laboratories to learn basic techniques and to conduct a research project.
Summer fellowships are competitive for high school students in their junior or senior year as well as undergraduate students with a 3.0 or better GPA are eligible. Applicants should be US citizens and have an interest in pursuing a career in biomedical research or medicine. Criteria for selection include academic record, essay and interest in obtaining research experience. Specified area(s) of research interest can help place selected students in an appropriate laboratory or clinical setting.
