Description

The goals of this program, funded by the US Department of State and the US Embassy in Tbilisi, are focused on advancing scholarly research, research design, and research methods, as well as supporting Georgian research that has a practical and policy applications. This collaborative program between faculty at the Schar School of Policy and Government at George Mason University and faculty and graduate students at Georgian universities includes the following objectives:

  • strengthening quantitative and qualitative research skills and academic writing of Georgian scholars,
  • promoting publication of Georgian peer-reviewed scholarly publications in internationally recognized journals,
  • encouraging greater interaction between Georgian researchers and the Georgian policy community,
  • advancing Georgian teaching capacity in research methodologies and academic writing, and
  • developing a climate for improved research capacity at Georgian universities.

Central components of this program include short term workshops in Georgia during summers 2016 and 2017 as well as an online writing mentorship program. Participants in the summer workshop will receive a stipend of up to $1000. Participants in the writing mentorship program will receive a stipend of up to $500. The dates for the summer 2017 workshop are July 17 – August 4. The workshop will be held on the Tbilisi campus of the Georgian Institute for Public Affairs.
