Two scholarships are offered by the American Legion Auxiliary of Wiscons related to the health professions:

National Presidents Day Scholarship - (one) $2500; (one) $2000; (one) $1000

(Candidates for this award shall be daughters, step-daughters, sons, step-sons, grandsons, or step-grandsons, granddaughters, step-granddaughters, great-granddaughters, step-great-granddaughters, great-grandsons, step-great-grandsons of veterans who served in the Armed Forces during eligibility dates for membership in The American Legion.)

Past Presidents Parley – three (3) $1000 registered nurse scholarships 

(Applicant must be in nursing school or have positive acceptance to an accredited school of nursing.)

Non Traditional - (five) $1000

(Applicant must be a member of The American Legion, American Legion Auxiliary, or Sons of The American Legion and shall have paid dues for the two preceding years and for the calendar year in which application is made.)

Spirit of the Youth - (five) four - year $1000 scholarships

(Candidates for this award shall be/shall have been Junior members of the American Legion Auxiliary; said member to have held Junior membership in the American Legion Auxiliary for the past three years and must hold a membership card for the current (2011) year. Applicant must continue her membership in the American Legion Auxiliary during the four-year-scholarship period.)

Della Van Deuren– two (2) $1000 health career scholarship

(Course of study need not be a 4-year program. Hospital, University or technical school program is acceptable.)



Scholarship Eligibility:

  1. Applicant must be a daughter, son, stepdaughter, stepson, wife or widow of a veteran.

(Granddaughters, grandsons, great-granddaughters, great-grandsons, step-granddaughters, step-grandsons, step-great-granddaughters, and step-great-grandsons of a Wisconsin American Legion Auxiliary member may also apply.)

a)     If the applicant is a member of a Wisconsin American Legion Auxiliary Unit, a Wisconsin American Legion Post or a Wisconsin Sons of The American Legion Squadron, they do not need to reside in Wisconsin.

  1. Applicant must be in need of financial help to continue their education.
  2. Applicant must have at least a 3.5 GPA on a 4.0 grade base.
  3. Applicant must be a resident of Wisconsin, except as noted in 2 (a).
