The ASHP Student Leadership Award is administered by the ASHP Pharmacy Student Forum. The Award recognizes students with an interest in pharmacy practice in health-systems who have demonstrated leadership ability. This program recognizes and celebrates the contributions of students who represent the very best attributes and accomplishments of ASHP student members. ASHP offers twelve awards annually, four to student members in each professional year of pharmacy school, beginning with the second professional year. The award consists of a plaque, an ASHP drug information reference library, and a $2500 cash award provided by the ASHP Research and Education Foundation from the Walter Jones Memorial Pharmacy Student Financial Aid Fund. Former ASHP staff member Walter Jones, who died in 1995, was a great friend of pharmacists, pharmacy students and residents. The Walter Jones Memorial Pharmacy Student Financial Aid Fund was established by the Foundation in 1995 in tribute to Mr. Jones.
