Description

The Outstanding BSW or MSW Student of the Year Award honors a National Association of
Social Workers, Louisiana, (NASW-LA) student member who exemplifies the best of the
profession's values and achievements.  In honoring the Outstanding BSW or MSW Student of
the Year, NASW-LA highlights accomplishments by the student while in a formal educational
setting.   A $250 cash award accompanies this honor.

CRITERIA
1. Be an NASW member in good standing
2. Student in good standing with a minimum of 2.5 GPA
 
NOMINATION PROCEDURE
NASW members may nominate a candidate by submitting one (1) copy of the following:
1. School submits a statement of what makes the student outstanding (500 words or less)
2. Essay by the nominee expressing his/her goals for a career in social work (500 words or
less)
3. Endorsement by the School of Social Work Dean or Program Director
4. Completed official nomination form
 
To ensure the candidate's eligibility, please adhere to the nomination guidelines.  Use clear,
concise, descriptive examples of activities and accomplishments.  The nomination packet must
include the nomination form, summary sheet, vita, and support letters.  The Chapter Executive Committee
selects the winner.  The awardees, nominator, and region are notified.  The award (which
includes recognition and a monetary award of $250) will be presented at NASW's Annual
Conference,.
