The American Speech-Language-Hearing Foundation (ASHFoundation) invites investigators to submit proposals in competition for up to five $10,000 research grants. This grant initiative is designed to advance the knowledge base in communication sciences and disorders. The competition does not restrict proposal type or content area, but will give priority to studies that are innovative, groundbreaking, or that can meet research needs not yet addressed. The intent of this grant is to initiate new research in the field, and funding can be applied to a one or two-year investigation.
The ASHFoundation is able to offer this special competition as a result of its Dreams and Possibilities Campaign initiative. This campaign raised over $2 million to support doctoral education and research in the field of communication sciences and disorders. The intention of this research program is to support investigations by individuals who are committed to teacher-investigator careers in the university/college academic environment or in external research institutes or laboratories.
The research grants are not intended to provide additional or extended support for an established and funded research effort. They are intended to support new research ideas and directions for investigators who are not currently funded in the proposed area of investigation, including new investigators. Proposals for work that can be accomplished in 1-2 years with the $10,000 grant and/or for pilot work in a demonstrably new area by experienced investigators are also welcomed.
This funding opportunity requires applicants to hold U.S. Citizenship.
