The purpose of the Osteopathic Medical Student Loan-for-Service Program is to increase the number of osteopathic physicians and physician assistants in areas of the state which have experienced shortages, by making educational loans to students seeking certification or licensure in one of these health fields. As a condition of the loan, a student must declare their intent to practice as an osteopathic physician or physician assistant in a designated health professional shortage area in New Mexico. Penalties apply for failure to provide service.
The award is dependent upon the financial need of the student, but may not exceed $12,000 per year. To be eligible, must be a New Mexico resident who is accepted by or enrolled in an accredited public school of osteopathic education in the United States.
A citizen of the US; resident of New Mexico; enrolled in an accredited Osteopathic medicine program; complete Financial Aid Form.
This funding opportunity requires applicants to hold U.S. Citizenship.
