This award recognizes underrepresented minority students at AACOM's member colleges of osteopathic medicine. The award amount for a newly accepted osteopathic medical student will be up to $1,000.
Applicants must be an underrepresented minority who has been accepted and is planning to matriculate at one of the 20 AACOM member colleges of osteopathic medicine or one of the three branch campuses. Minorities included: African American, Native American, or Hispanic.
Applicants must submit a 750-word essay on:
1. What the osteopathic medical schools can do to recruit/retain more underrepresented minority students;
2. What the applicant personally plans to do as a student and as a future D.O. to help increase minority student enrollment at a college of osteopathic medicine; and
3. How and why was the applicant drawn to osteopathic medicine? (NOTE: The response to question #3 cannot exceed 250 words of the essay.)
