Academic requirements
This occupation requires a medical degree (MD or DO) followed by completion of a 3-year preventive medicine residency. Many also obtain a Master of Public Health (MPH) degree during or after residency. State medical licensure and board certification in preventive medicine through the American Board of Preventive Medicine are required.
